Moving to a new boarding school brought its own difficulties. Hendrik had to fight for his place every day. He excelled in mathematics and abstract thinking but struggled with dyslexia. Through relentless practice and dedication, he overcame his challenges, eventually reading and writing extensively on psychology, a subject he grew to love.

A Young Innovator: Vision Beyond His Years

Hendrik’s teenage years were spent alongside his parents as they rapidly expanded their shipping business. At 16, he began working on the construction of a ship from the hull to its full installation. His knack for optimization was evident—he proposed lowering floors around bow thruster channels to increase engine room height and concealing piping for a tidier appearance. On deck, he introduced changes that simplified maintenance and improved functionality.

At 18, Hendrik was already directing sailors, despite the age gap. His growing expertise in sailing, loading, unloading, and technical maintenance earned him respect. Hendrik’s passion for visionary innovation shone through when he began conceptualizing advancements like GPS-based navigation, magnetic ship docking, and integrated radar systems.

Transitioning to Technology and Leadership

Hendrik pursued technical electronics studies, but his ambitions exceeded the curriculum. He envisioned technological solutions far ahead of their time, including replacing coins in public telephones with bank-linked cards and creating fully automated ship control systems.

Despite dropping out of formal studies, Hendrik pursued numerous certifications, including management and English courses, while gaining hands-on experience. Miraculously, he recovered within minutes and insisted on continuing the exercise. This experience, however, shifted his focus entirely toward communication and human development.

In 1991, Hendrik founded a marketing and communication agency, marking the start of a new chapter. His interest in psychology, cultural anthropology, and communication deepened as he sought to understand and influence how people think, feel, and interact.
